I'll also be rewriting my exhaustive walkthrough of this project that Blogger ate after 8 hours of working on it. -------------->

A more CSS-ish way to create a site would be to well, use a Style Sheet. Linking to a CSS page that controls your layout and behaviours can take way longer than an hour to set up. Plus browsers just dont seem to be able to get together and decide how to interpret CSS, thus they all do it slightly differently.

Once you muddle your way to a nice CSS, simply reuse it! Tweak the behaviors and layout to suit your needs but you'll see a dramatic drop in the time you spend designing.

You would go through steps One (needs assessment) and Two (PS Mock-UP) but then just export from PS! and plug the new images into your css! NEATO!

Project Guide: QD style

Start with a needs asssessment. What do you need? Create an Outline, start with the major sections and then the pages and media that fall under them. Once you've choosen the navigation and screen size begin to mock up your site in Photoshop!

You want to get two JPGs out of your work in PS. An UP state for your buttons and an Over state.

Open Fireworks and import your JPGs. Set up guidelines and start slicing your site! Set the rollover/swapimages and any pop out menus.

Export it, as Images and HTML, use the default Images folder.

Open that in Dreamweaver and trim and tweak the page until you get what you want! From here we can set editable regions and make a template or just save out the pages you want! Hook up your navigation and your set!

Now you have plenty of time left over to open flash and make a wicked flash intro! SWEET!
